24 Hours Are Not Enough

Have you heard anyone say they are bored? Or come across people who have the audacity to think you are expected to entertain them because they do not know what to do with their free time?

If so, have you tried advising them to go ahead, scratch themselves, even if nothing itches. Or give them a choice to imagine they are robots and walk down the street with mechanical movements, adding zzttaclung sounds with each motion. Or better still, tell them to blink wildly and then close their eyes very tight for an interesting light show. Haha!

If I had a choice and freedom from certain responsibilities, guess I’d have gladly retired from office work right now and I’d still not get bored. I can think of a zillion things to do to keep myself busy. Right now, I have much on my plate that keeps me busy. And some people say they are bored!

Okay. Enough of raving...

~~~
When I get a comment to write a post on a particular travel destination, it does feel good because it makes me feel that interest is shown in what I have to say but at the same time I feel a tinge of sadness about perhaps not writing enough, or at least not as much as my readers would have liked to read.
I have lately travelled more than I could possibly write about on my blog here. Some of my recent travels that I have not written in detail about are:
August 2008
Mangalore, Karla, Lonavala, Khandala, Mumbai
July – August 2008
Garhwal Trip from Delhi to: Haridwar, Rishikesh, Rudraprayag, Joshimath, Auli, Govindghat, Valley of Flowers, Hemkund, Pandukeshwar, Badrinath, Mana village.
March 2008
Trip to Jordan including: Amman, Jerash, Ajloun, the Dead Sea and the Petra.
The Treasury at the Petra
February - March 2008
Kumaon Trip from Delhi to: Nainital, Bhimtal and around, and Corbett National Park.
December 2007
Then there was the tour that included Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Jhansi and some of the places I went to in Madhya Pradesh including Gwalior, Datia, Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna, Bandavgarh, Bhedaghat, Jabalpur, Pachmarhi, Bhojpur, Bhopal, Bhimbetka, Udaigiri, Sanchi, etc. I have written posts until Khajuraho, and have more photographs to upload and to write on my experiences in the other places as well.
July 2007
I had never got around to completing my writing on my jeep safari from Manali to Leh and my travels to the rest of Ladakh, but in this case, I’ve put up at least some posts here and there about them. That was the time I had just about started blogging.
Other trips
There are other journeys made last year to parts of Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra in addition to my travels to Cambodia and Thailand in January 2007 prior to my blogging days. I had meant to write about them but it seems time is slipping through, and I may not be able to catch up.
Need to Focus and Welcome Distraction
I am presently pursuing my studies and have a few papers to answer in January 2009. So, in addition to a full time office job besides domestic chores, a part of my time these days is spent on preparing for those exams. In the meantime I can’t help but get distracted by dreaming of more travels and it is true that a few plans are in the offing!!
Seeking Your Views
My dear reader, I would like your advice on what would be the best approach of presenting my travel experiences. Is anyone really keen to read my post with details or would it be sufficient to simply upload some pictures? How about to begin writing from my recent travels and then if time permits to continue with the rest? Do you have a good suggestion?
I’d love to hear from you, so please do drop in a line or two.
I too wonder how some people get bored so easily.I always keep doing something,meddling around.Lol!
Wow the Petra looks stunning.I remember having first read about them as a kid in a TinTin book.Since then,they have never ceased to fascinate me.
You surely have a full plate!It's great you manage to blog in spite of all the commitments you are tied to!
As for presentation of your travel accounts,do it the way you feel comfortable.I was just thinking the other day that sometime in the near future,you could compile it all into a book.There would be not much work then considering that you have outlined the details as you have been posting :)
I'm with you on the bored thing. How anyone can be bored is beyond me!
I like seeing the pics of your travels. That's my favorite part.
I came in here after a long while. Your blog looks great, and the pics and travel accounts are very tempting.
Great going, you are having a ball in life, I can see that!
Same here, I rarely get bored - I often don't have enough time!
So many travels... I can't wait to hear about your Jordan trip, I'm quite curious about this part of the world.
I'd say post some pictures with good captions!
So many things to write and so little time to do that. Celine I think its more important to write down all the experiences in your journal atleast just for yourself, afterall that's why you travel:) I think making a person travel journal is non-negotiable. Blogging for an audience is secondary and if that doesn't happen, big deal. There is always someone else sometime someday who will travel to the places you've been to (we bloggers are a commodity:P), plus like you said, your list of places prior to blogging is another story :) Cheers.
oops, I forgot to conclude the divine knowledge I vomited above (which has a typo - should be 'personal travel journal'.) So just pick any trip and write about it without worrying about chronology, or maybe you can write 'destination travelogs' to select places. - My 2 million dollars.
I understand the feeling. I too went through a phase were I used to worry about what to write. Then I decided I started blogging just for myself and it should remain like that. So when i have time I write long pieces and when I don't have time I sometimes just upload pictures! And you did some traveling in 2008!
Im bored when I dont travel ...:) no wonder you arent..as you travel so much and then there is work to keep you occupied , if not busy :)
Writing to me is always a spontaneous feeling..sometimes pictures tell a story of a trail better, sometimes stories and snippets help..I think the destination decides how it can be featured - anyways , I have enjoyed reading all your posts ..
Sorry abt this rather long comment
Celine,
First a tight hug to you dear.
I totally agree with you on writing & also on getting bored. Hmmm... getting bored is different from being lonely. isn't it ? ;)
Like you, even I have traveled to many countries/places which till now I haven't spoken about. Main reason being they were before blogging days and now also I have traveled extensively but blog abt only 25% of them.
No need to listen to others, just set your priorities first. You have exams, jobs and daily chores to cater to. Pleasing others should be the last.
In between whenever you find time, you can post some pictures or write some interesting anecdote what you want to remember.
You would have seen from my posts how small they are these days.. just to remind myself of those days. You can also see how late I come to your blog these days. Because of my busyness, I have reduced visiting blogs. :(
But hey,, I'll definitely drop a line whenever I play 'passing the sentence'. I'll miss you there. :)
Now cheer up, you yawning from my this long comment. :)
Delighted to know about your parents vacation to the Holy Land. Please wish them a great trip and safety on my behalf.
Zhu,
I've noticed people who aren't bored are generally content.;)
Jordan trip was good, however, I guess it didn't turn out exactly as per my expectations.
Your idea of posting pictures with good captions is excellent, and if I just do not get enough time to write, I shall be proceeding as per suggestion. Thank you very much.:)
Priyank,
Divine knowledge from the deva..LOL.
Puku, I do have my little notebooks of each trip in which I have scribbled notes that can be called, I guess, my 'personal travel journals.' They are special and will forever be cherished. However, I feel after those travels, no words or pictures can be more significant or outweigh the experience and memories that we have of those places.
As to writing about those travels on my blog, your comment has enlightened me!!
Now onwards, I will pick and choose any of my travel destinations that I am interested to talk about at any point of time when free and write about it. A good idea, thank you or your invaluable output.:)
PS: But don't be surprised in case I churn out the stories in chrono order too...haha!
Mridula,
Thank you very much for sharing your perspective on this matter, it is truly appreciated.
I feel I haven't travelled enough.:)
Lakshmi,
You need your regular shots of high through travels. Like I do...haha!
Work does keep me occupied, and while at office, if my mind isn't occupied with work, then it is with plans for future travels.:P
I could have written better and more if I had more time Lakshmi. Anyway, will try out sometime narrating stories through pictures like you do so beautifully. Thank you for your nice comment and kind words.:)
Cuckoo,
A hug over to you too. Of course they are two different things. And hey, you must put up a list of the different countries you have been to, so we know.;)
Your advice of setting priorities is noted, thank you. I appreciate your visit here through your busy times and your nice long comment. Please do drop in sometimes, and write long comments.:)
Now, start the game right away, won't you? haha!
