Happy 2008!

Greetings from Kuwait.

Here’s a quick post to inform my dear readers that I have just got back from a wonderful trip to India. My travels this time exceeded my expectations and I have returned pretty pleased with what I have explored.

During this trip I experienced vibrant and enchanting India in its many hues. Some of the places were re-visited (like Delhi, Agra, Mumbai, Goa, Mangalore, and Bangalore) while the rest of the areas (mostly in Madhya Pradesh and Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh) were explored for the first time.

So, I'm back now having travelled to Gwalior, Datia, Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna and Ken Ghariyal and Bandavgarh National Parks, Jabalpur, Bedhaghat, Bhopal, Pachmarhi, Sanchi, Udaigiri, Vidisha, Bhimbetka and Bhojpur - all belonging to the state called the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh, which I would describe as the very quintessence of India's natural splendor, and rich artistic and cultural heritage.

Having returned I realized that I did explore 11 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of India and I feel pretty good about it. Here's the list:

I hope to post about my experiences in each place in days to come.

My dear friends, please accept my good wishes for the New Year that has begun today and heartfelt thanks to all those who wish me good. A very Happy 2008 to all!

Ananda,

Thanks for your wishes and your kind comments. I hope the New Year started off well for you.

I've plunged myself with work as soon as I've returned and shall be posting on my blog when time permits. :)

Saibal,

Thank you very much for your kind words and the warm welcome.

We can only wish for the best each New Year. Memories of dreams fulfilled or not would not dissuade us from being content with whatever comes along the way, right?

I did not fly all the places Saibal. Now that you mentioned it, I did a quick count and can say during this trip, I took 5 flights, made 4 train journeys and the rest of the travel in between was mostly by MP tourism taxis in addition to car and bike rides in other places. Overall, a very good trip I must say. :)

But I'm not exhausted having travelled to all those places! ;)

I'll post my travel pictures once I settle down with the urgent work at office front.

Yes, I have met some interesting people during my journeys and some of them are now on my contact list of new friends. Thankfully I've not been irritated with lousy characters this time.

Darlene, a very happy New Year to you as well. :)

That's a nice wish, thanks. Yes, was a great trip indeed. In fact was so good that the day I got back here, I felt like leaving on another trip!

I was born in Mangalore, a small town near Bangalore. After my studies, I moved to Jamnagar and since then have lived in Mumbai and of course now in Kuwait. :)

That was quite a trip with a lot of places covered. I have now begun taking it slow: choosing only one or two places during a vacation so I can spend more time lazing around.

Shantanu,

It was a pleasantly busy experience of exploring the first 18 days and then it was simply relaxation with the family during Christmas and post-Christmas season in Mangalore and Goa.

I'd rather be on the move as I tend to get bored easily when relaxation and lazing continues for an extended time. However, I know quite a few people who travel like you, and I quite understand that pace as well.

Lakshmi,

Thank you. I've just e-mailed you.

Hi Celine,

Nice post. Just curious... Did you visit all these places in India all alone ? I am not able to see all the places I want to see because I couldn't get a right company. I find it a bit difficult to travel alone in India. I was wondering if you could give some tips :)

Thanks,

Kusum,

Welcome to my blog, and thanks for your kind comment.

Off late, most of my travels within India are done solo.

I've just emailed you regarding other matters. :)
