This Haiku is inspired by the prompt of this week Doorway provided at One Single Impression.
Doorway of palace
Built to welcome Mughal king
Of medieval times
To commemorate
Bundel King's coronation
The Mughal arrived
Though of different faith
Their friendship knew no limits
That's commendable
May their example
Of tolerance, concordance
Teach us those virtues

Jehangir Palace is said to have been built to commemorate the arrival to Orchha of the Mughal Emperor, Jehangir, for the coronation ceremony of the Hindu Bundela King, Raja Bir Singh Deo. More details can be found in my post titled An Evening in the Medieval Town of Orchha where this picture was published under My Memoirs.

Lovely pic and lovelier Haiku!
Wow,how grand to build a palace just to welcome him :)
I don't like Jehangir-he ditched Anarkali :(
Sameera,
Thank you. Yes, a grand welcome. And he lived in that palace just for a day!
Regarding Jehangir (then Salim) and Anarkali, but he did love her.
And then loving and ditching - wasn't that the lifestyle of the kings of yore?
Indeed, may we learn those virtues. Thanks for this!
LOvely picture and even a lovelier Haiku
cheers
Raza
Ah, to be able to find such maturity in our leaders today!
Hopefully in my lifetime.

The doorway appears so royal!
NIce pic. Me back after a short break.
This is lovely. A history lesson, wonderful photography, a doorway with beautiful decorative architecture, a story of a role model of tolerance, and your words interwoven together to convey it all.
I really like that you were able to weave a sense of history and morality into your haiku. The palace looks amazing.
Beautiful Haikus,
as splendid as the doorway which inspired them! :-)
Now if we could just get the rest of the world to walk through that door of peace! What a nice image and poem. What an interesting bit of history. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog.
yeah, what they all said... could we imagine today, building a palace for one day's pleasure of friendship... it is a thoughtful gesture beyond comprehension..
This is simply a lovely shot & the words add more meaning and depth to the shot...lovely haiku & the post!
Amen. May we indeed learn those virtues. Beautifully done.
