  3. The brazen existence of army vehicles over the carpeted strip loses all its might when shades and shines engage in mirthful play over the vales and hills and colours flourish exuberantly; Yes, that is the Nature, and the PEACE !
Thanks, friend, for let me view it when day ends now....

You have recognized the military vehicles in the sensitive zone! Oh yes, the place is peaceful and heavenly. Truly one gets a feeling of awe while there. Am delighted that you enjoyed this.:)

Ths is funny, this is exactly what I though the Himalaya would look like. Dry, military vehicle, mountains (duh!)...

  12. Zhu,

    Haha..thanks.
But do not forget the Himalayas is a mountain range of approx 2,400 kms, most of which is inaccessible. This is a teeny weeny glimpse of the mightiness of it all.:)

  16. Lakshmi,

It may be a high security zone but there has been no dearth of tranquility in those mountains (and I am not referring to J&K here).

Yes, go to Manali, HP and Leh, Ladakh. It's sure to be a journey that you will cherish all your life.:)

  17. Celine, the mountains are tranquil for sure..what i meant that there is always a shadow of war or terror in those areas..not so much for tourists maybe, but for the army or border force or the locals..I remember going to Tawang and it was beautiful, but the irony was it had been a battle field as well where lives were lost at one time ..

  18. Lakshmi,

    I get you. I agree.
In fact I recall my conversations particularly with two military personnel, one at Thiksey Monastery, Leh and the other while at Khardung-La (so called highest motorable road in the world) on the way to Nubra Valley, and through the breathtaking beauty of the places, there was an air of melancholy too. So, yea, I understand. War or for that matter, also the threat of one, is dreadful.

Nice poem to match the picture Celine. I can suggest you to write a caption for the picture rather than 'click here' thing because people are used to clicking on pictures anyway :)

I can't wait to go to the mountains. But I must wait for a few months :)
