The Gift

Through icy-winds
For daily free meal
Raj hobbles
Tugs his warm coat
Kind soul's donation!
Mugger pounces
Wields knife
Demands wallet
Raj gives, sees
Another hungry person!
Raj hollers
At darting figure
Plucking hurriedly
His only coat, gives
Saying:
"Friend, for meal
Not enough in wallet,
Keep this,
It should keep you warm."

Icy-winds howl!

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.

The Dalai Lama

    I love the philosophy!

Poem... or song. I could almost sing it in my head, perfect balance of words and rhythms.

Is it based on true incident !! If so amazing if it has happened. As a friend use to tell me about this Guy ( who was slain by naxalites) and he was this personality who would even call thieves and would give money. I really wonder if there are more people like him or Raj !!

Very nice indeed -this post really made me think....!!
Thx dear -God bless you !!
Tk care and have a gr8 weekend !!

Lovely poem Celine. Reminded me of a similar story I read when I was a child.

  6. When rich palm is tasty, I need no sweetener....
I loved the poet's contribution...a spontaneous strong feeling without much thirst to explain but enough penetrating to make one feel about...
I really need (rather needed, as the poet may well understand) no sweetener...

  10. Zhu,

Thanks. It's a tiny poem of just 55 words, and if you could sing it, that's nice and will consider it as a great compliment.:)

  12. BTR, err.. Rulzbender,

This is a 55-words piece that I composed based on what I read online sometime back. The Guy you wrote about sounds a little like Robin Hood (but why thieves, rather than more deserving ones?)

I am not quite sure if there are people like Raj in this world, but I hope compassion will continue to be felt. The world needs it.

Thank you for your kind words, and your thoughtful comments.:)
