India is on my "dream list" of countries I'd love to explore. Your photos and essays make me wanto to even more. With India so large, I would have a hard time to decide where I'd like to go. My husband has travelled extensively in India, from the Himalayas to the Seas, so it would be my choice, alas where to? ;-)
I have read quite a frew Indian authors and authors of the Indian dispora, but my favorite book about "the dream of India" is Antonio Tabucchi's "Notturno Indiano" ("Indian Nocturne", the English translation is very good).
We have been postponing our trip to Rajasthan for a while now. I have sent so many of my American friends there on vacation, but have never managed to visit it yet! :-)
awesome...went through all your posts on jaipur and it brought back fond memories of an adhoc trip...last year I was in Delhi on work and had the weekend free ..My husband joined me and along with my brother in law who was living there , we just decided to take off to jaipur without any plan..most of the pics are in his camera while I shot a few random ones on my mobile

merisi: I’m glad my humble little post inspired you more. I understand your plight, what with India being a sub-continent. If you ask for my views on where to visit, even though I was born in the southern part of India, I'm now biased towards the northern Himalayan mountain areas.
